The Governments of Canada and British Columbia have announced an agreement to enhance school programs for 90K children in over 1K schools across the province. The Government of Canada will be providing about $39.4M over the next three years to support the expansion. These funds will go towards expanding the number of students served, purchasing equipment and increasing menu options.

Quw’utsun Secondary, a new $86M high school in the Cowichan Valley, has officially opened to students. The school replaces Cowichan Secondary which opened in 1950. The new school has space for up to 1.1K students with the possibility of expansion to 1.5K spaces.

The provincial government, the City of North Vancouver, along with the local school district, are providing a combined $67.5 million to construct a new elementary school in North Vancouver's Cloverley neighbourhood. The new school is expected to be ready by fall 2026 and will include a neighbourhood learning centre for childcare programs and services.

The board of governors of Vancouver Island University have announced the cancellation of four of the university’s academic programs. Two of the cancelled programs were its Geographic Information Systems (GIS) programs. These cuts come as the University is forecasted to have a $150K budget deficit for the coming year. Cuts to the university’s music programs are also being considered.
