The Cowichan area will receive more than $3 million from B.C.'s Community Emergency Preparedness Fund. The Town of Ladysmith will receive $2.75 million to decommission and repair the Hollan Creek weirs, the Cowichan Valley Regional District will receive $267,080 for risk-reduction policies and processes, and Cowichan Tribes will get $150,000 for mobile flood-control equipment. The funding will provide better protection during flooding and other extreme weather emergencies.
