The City of Kamloops has approved a $2M budget increase to fund the city’s civic facilities maintenance. The council also recommended adding two full-time facilities staff members and will review this request during the upcoming 2025 supplemental budget discussion.

WestJet Group has announced that it will be expanding its service in Kelowna for the 2025 summer season. The expansion will include a 15% increase in seat capacity from Kelowna International Airport with increased service to Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg. There will also be a new daily service between Kelowna and Seattle.

Thompson Rivers University has announced it is implementing a hiring freeze and scaling back capital projects by $5M. The university made the decision based on a decline in revenues from international students. The university reported a decrease of 400 students in fall 2024 from fall 2023. The hiring freeze will impact about 75 positions.
