The Province stated that it has eliminated five positions as part of the transition, none of which are front-line staff.

A new health clinic is opening in Bashaw, with six new physicians recruited to help staff it. The Bashaw Collaborative Health Model hopes to eventually incorporate social services into the clinic as well. An opening date has not yet been announced.

A new senior care facility, the Pleasant View Lodge, recently opened in Spirit River. The facility provides 92 spaces ranging from independent living to continuing care home (CCH) spaces. Half of the 52 CCH spaces are reserved for residents with dementia who need higher levels of support.

A new report from the Rural Municipalities of Alberta highlights poor access to end-of-life care in rural parts of the province, and calls for more funding for hospice organizations.
