Calgary-based Eguana Technologies inc., a developer and manufacturer of energy storage solutions, has partnered with BC Hydro in a pilot program that will install energy storage systems in 200 customer homes. The systems will form part of a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) that will help strengthen the local power grid and alleviate fluctuatio9ns in peak electricity load demand.
FuelCell Energy, Inc., a fuel cell manufacturer based in Connecticut, USA, is laying off 17% of its staff and reducing spending on product development. The company operates in the US, Germany and Canada with a manufacturing facility in Calgary, but no layoff numbers were released.
Metlen Energy & Metals, an international industrial and energy company, has established its first North American headquarters in Calgary. The office will serve as a hub for a diverse team of professionals, including engineers, project managers, and business development experts, and create hundreds of jobs in the renewable energy sphere.
The Town of High River is planning to add new amenities, such as new change rooms, new mechanical room, and kids play area to the new Aquatic Centre at the Bob Snodgrass Recreational Complex, which is currently under construction. The project is expected to be completed in 2026.

The Foothills Okotoks Regional Water Project broke ground on October 22. The project is a collaboration between the City of Okotoks and Foothills County. The $30 million project is expected to be completed in 2026.

According to Calgary City Council, winding down the Green Line LRT project will an additional $850M on top of the roughly $1.3B the city has already spent. The plan to wind down operations is unconfirmed but is expected to be complete before 2025. Almost 250 employees and consultants were involved with the project on behalf of the city with about 800 more brought on as contractors.
