The new elementary school on McAdam Avenue (Fredericton) has yet to be named. It will be a new school of approximately 430 students from grades K to 5 and is located in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The school is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in September 2025. The first 6 months of this five-year term will be spent planning for the educational and building management needs required for a successful opening in September 2025. Should there be any changes to the planned opening, the successful candidate may need to be reassigned to a different position following the terms of the collective agreement.Upon it's opening, the principal will fulfill the â??Duties of Principalsâ? as per Section 28 of the New Brunswick Education Act. The principal will also promote optimum learning for all students through instructional leadership, positive and orderly school climate, monitoring student progress, strategic planning, and effective communication with all stakeholders. In accordance with Article 47 of the Agreement Between Finance and Treasury Board and the New Brunswick Teachersâ?? Federation, only teachers who have or have had a continuing contract with a school district in the Province of New Brunswick and who meet the required qualifications are eligible for appointment to positions of responsibility, except when no applications from teachers with such qualifications have been received. The basic criteria for appointment to positions of responsibility shall be educational qualifications, competence, efficiency, and suitability. In assessing candidates for a position of responsibility, the Employer shall consider each of these criteria; when the educational qualifications, competence, efficiency, and suitability are relatively equal, preference for the position shall be given to the candidate who has a continuing contract.NOTE: A teaching assignment may be a requirement of this position.Essential Qualifications: â?¢ have or have had a continuing (B) contract in New Brunswick â?¢ valid New Brunswick Principalâ??s Certificate or valid New Brunswick Interim Principalâ??s Certificateâ?¢ valid New Brunswick Teacherâ??s Certificate, preferably Certificate VIâ?¢ minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience in the public school systemâ?¢ written and spoken competence in English â?¢ familiarity and competency with curriculum and programs for the respective grade level(s) â?¢ familiarity and competency in school facility management and communicationsâ??Asset Qualifications:â?¢ expert knowledge of practices of the respective grade levelsâ?¢ demonstrated practice of applying assessment to instructionâ?¢ belief in and practice of teamingâ?¢ strong interpersonal relationship skillsâ?¢ collaborative, inclusive decision-making skillsâ?¢ competence in technologyâ?¢ competence in managing human and fiscal resourcesâ?¢ effective discipline strategiesâ?¢ ability to work positively and proactively with the change processâ?¢ superior problem-solving abilitySalary: In accordance with the Agreement Between Treasury Board and The New Brunswick Teachers' Federation with responsibility allowance based on a medium school size.How to Apply:Step 1.
