The Atlantic Wellness Community Centre is a registered charity and non-profit organization, dedicated to providing free counselling and support services to youth and young adults (ages 12-21) who struggle with mental illness and mental health concerns. *The Opportunity*
Atlantic Wellness is entering an exciting phase of growth and is seeking a collaborative, strategic, tech-savvy, and process-driven *Development Officer *with a keen eye for data, a passion for innovation, and a focus on achieving measurable outcomes to join our team. This role will play a critical part in driving revenue growth through grant writing, prospect research, donor stewardship, and innovative fundraising initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator with strong computer skills and data strategy expertise to optimize our current fundraising systems and enhance donor engagement. They have a talent for building meaningful connections and maximizing impact through both institutional and individual giving.
*Core Responsibilities*
*Fund Development & Donor Relations *
* Support the development and execution of annual fundraising campaigns, including major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and donor appeals.
* Support the identification and cultivation of relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and funding partners.
* Assist in planning and coordinating fundraising campaigns and events, including annual, monthly, major, and community giving initiatives, as well as all aspects of event planning such as logistics, vendor management, and attendee engagement.
* Maintain excellent donor and funder records using the organization?s CRM or database.
* Support the creation of donor impact reports and stewardship materials to strengthen relationships with funders and supporters.
*Grant Writing & Reporting *
* Assist in researching and identifying grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporate partners.
* Develop compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports that align with Atlantic Wellness?s mission and strategic priorities.
* Manage grant application timelines, submission processes, and reporting requirements to ensure compliance with funder expectations.
* Maintain a grants calendar, track deadlines, and coordinate with internal teams to gather necessary information.
* Monitor and evaluate grant-funded programs to provide accurate data and impact stories in reports.
*Data Management*
* Optimize, administer, and maintain the current donor CRM, including donor segmentation, reporting and financial management.
* Utilize strong data management skills to ensure accurate and efficient record-keeping and reporting.
* Apply advanced computer skills and a keen eye for process improvements to enhance data-driven decision-making.
* Regularly prepare and present detailed fundraising reports and analyses
*Required Education, Credentials and Experience*
* *Education: *University degree or College Diploma, preferably with a community/philanthropic or business development specialization or equivalent experience; or transferable community-based experiences, with a proven track record of fund development success in the non-profit sector.
* *Work Experience*: 2+ years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, grant writing, marketing or a related field.
*Other Qualifications:*
* Strong research, writing, and storytelling skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives.
* Bilingual (English & French) is considered a strong asset.
* Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
* Demonstrated proficiency with data management and a proactive approach to process improvements.
* Proficient in required software
