Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Confined spaces. Noisy. Dusty. Outdoors. Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Renovation. Commercial. Residential. Level of expertise: Maintenance and repair. Tasks: Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers. Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments. Supervise apprentices/students in training. Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites. Read and interpret blueprints/sketches/specifications. Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets. Apply and secure insulation using spraying, blowing, pasting, strapping, taping and other application and installation methods. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Personal suitability: Excellent oral communication. Reliability. Team player.
