Guiding Light Autism Services is seeking an enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Pediatric Occupational Therapist Assistant for our centres The individual will be based out of our Oakville clinic, however they will be required to travel to both our Milton and Brampton clinics. The Pediatric Occupational Therapist Assistant will work alongside a registered Occupational Therapists and play big role as part of an interdisciplinary team (ABA, Speech, Occupational Therapy) to provide a variety of services including assessment; development and monitoring of individualized service plans for children and youths with special needs; education for parents, community support; and assistance to families and clients to transition successfully from one setting to another.
Reporting to the Head of Clinical Services and the registered Occupational Therapist.
*RESPONSIBILITIES:*
* Prepare, organize, plan and provide individual and group therapy with assigned patients under the direction of a registered Occupational Therapist.
* Therepaeutic activities may include but are not limited to; strengthening, range of motion, progress ADL?s and function as per treatment plan, gait training, balance training, exercise classes, providing physical assistance to PT/OT during assessment/ treatment etc.
* Progress ADLs and function, as per treatment plan
* Maintain accurate workload reporting and document via electronic documentation.
* Participate regularly in interprofessional care team, business and professional council meetings.
* Maintain regular communication with OTs regarding any changes or concerns about kiddo?s program or their health status as well as ongoing communication with the interprofessional team.
* Conduct work in a safe manner; prevention, identification and reporting of safety issues and problems; taking corrective action, where possible; attendance at safety meetings / training / updates in accordance with Guiding Light standards.
*QUALIFICATIONS:*
* OTA diploma from a recognized OTA/PTA program
* At least 2 years working with an age range of kiddos (18 months to 18 years).
* Well- developed skills in time management, problem solving skills required
* Excellent oral, written and non-verbal communication skills required
* Demonstrate understanding of compensatory and remediation principles
* Ability to communicate and work successfully in an inter-professional team environment
* Demonstrate professional judgement and interpersonal skills in dealing with kiddos, families and inter-professional team
* Proven ability to be responsible for carrying out assigned tasks with minimal supervision
Job Types: Full-time, Contract, Permanent
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 ? 25 per week
