Education: Bachelor's degree. Work setting: Health care institution, facility or clinic. Tasks: Interview client individually, in families, or in groups, to assess their situation and problems to determine the types of services required . Provide mediation services. Take authorized protective action when necessary. Provide counsel and therapy to help clients resolve social and personal problems. Refer clients to agencies that provide financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatment and other services. Provide public education and consultation regarding counselling services, issues and methods. Lobby for solutions to problems affecting client groups.
