We are searching for a *Medical Office Assistant *for our client in Grande Prairie.
Seeking an experienced Medical Office Assistant to join an amazing team and support one doctor. The ideal candidate will perform a wide range of clerical and administrative tasks such as: schedule appointments, type documents, process invoices, do data entry and filing, as well as answer telephone calls. Minor medical duties include greeting patients, taking vital signs and preparing the consultation room. The doctor runs his family medicine clinic from Monday to Wednesday. He also runs two different clinics on Thursdays and Fridays that are not associated with the clinic, so he is not in the office on those days. Therefore, Thursdays and Fridays are flexible if the work is done, however, they would need to be available to answer calls and make appointments.

*Duties*
* Use health software and other computer applications to book appointments or prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, letters, case histories, and medical records
* Interview patients to complete intake forms or other documents, or help patients? complete health history forms
* Transcribe oral instructions
* Submit WCB billing claims
* Process payments, bank documents, and accounts receivable
* Set up and maintain record-management systems, including classifying and coding electronic and hard-copy files
* Operate complex office equipment such as voice mail systems, photocopiers, fax machines, and document scanners
* Keep examination areas clean, orderly, and stocked with supplies
* Perform minor medical duties, such as preparing the consultation rooms between patients
* Take vital signs and help with examinations, such as acting as a chaperone, if requested by patient
* Use word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software to prepare documents
* Perform other clerical and administrative functions, such as maintaining an inventory of supplies

*Requirements*
* Proficiency in using medical office software is crucial; office-specific EMR will be provided
* Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures and familiarity with some medical instruments or tray items is beneficial
* A working understanding of human anatomy and physiology is also useful
* Diploma or certification from a medical office assistant (MOA) program
* Previous experience in an administrative role is preferred
* Knowledge of sports and comic books may give you an edge
