School District No. 61 (Greater Victoria)Assistant Manager of Building OperationsExempt Position The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 20,000 students in the Greater Victoria Area, encompassing six municipalities. To provide this service, the District has a current operating budget of $260 million and employs approximately 3,500 staff; which includes, teachers, principals and vice-principals, support staff, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and exempt managerial staff. The Greater Victoria School District has over 52 separate buildings and 3.1 million ft2 (287,000 m2) of floor space. Approximately 100 custodians are working in our buildings each evening to prepare them for the next day. The Assistant Manager of Building Operations is responsible for the afternoon and evening operation of the Greater Victoria School District including; cleaning, heating, security, and identification of maintenance issues. This position will usually work 10:00 am to 6:00 pm with occasional evening work. We are looking for completion of relevant post-secondary education in operations management, engineering or comparable academic studies, plus three years of related experience, including the supervision and coordination of unionized employees, and experience working with stakeholders in a leadership role or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the District.
