Zone: Central Zone Location: CNF - Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor Audiology Technician Central Zone - CNF Audiology Temporary Full-time (Approximately 9 months) 44710RP1 Hours 45 (8 hours; Days) Salary CG26 (CAD24.54 - CAD27.16 per hour) Competition Number VAC0004994 Posted Date 2024-12-12 Closing Date 2024-12-19 Demands, duties, qualifications Definition of work: Reporting to the Regional Manager of Rehabilitative Services with clinical oversight by the Clinical Lead for Audiology the Audiology Technician will be primarily responsible for assisting with the audiological evaluation of clients under the supervision of an audiologist. The successful candidate will work closely with the audiologist and primarily service the adult population with services that include hearing test; selecting, programming, fitting, evaluating and repairing hearing instruments issued through the provincial hearing aid program; instructing clients and caregivers on use, care, and maintenance of issued hearing instruments; and other duties as assigned. The Audiology Technician may also work with the pediatric population under the direct supervision of the audiologist, to assist in assessments and hearing rehabilitation, and perform repair and maintenance of hearing aids. The technician will also perform other assigned duties as required. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centred care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.Physical demands: By applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):? Work repetitively involves fine manipulation and hand-eye coordination; reaching/stretching, bending/twisting and repeated bouts of low-level postures such as squatting, crouching or stooping. ? Potential for exposure to blood, bodily fluids and/or other contagion. May be exposed to clients with potential risk for aggressive behavior.? Work Environments present potential for exposure to scented/chemical products and/or other allergens within publicly accessible areas? Maintaining a clean-shaven face can be mandated to ensure proper seal of personal protective equipmentRequired qualifications:? Graduation from high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.? Completion of a two-year diploma in Communications Disorders or equivalent approved by Central Health. ? Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.?
