Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structured Cabling Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting of various cable types, ensuring systems meet industry standards. This role requires physical endurance, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety. Work will primarily take place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and the surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities:
* Install, run, and terminate structured cabling systems, including CAT5E, CAT6, Fiber Optics, and Coaxial Cables, in residential and commercial spaces.
* Perform cable terminations for jacks, patch panels, and equipment.
* Install and secure conduits, cable trays, racks, and other support structures.
* Test, troubleshoot, and certify cables to ensure proper functionality and performance.
* Interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical drawings to determine installation requirements.
* Ensure compliance with Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and local regulations.
* Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean and safe worksite.
* Work collaboratively with team members and communicate effectively with clients.
* Perform physical tasks, including bending, crawling, standing for long hours, and lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs).
Qualifications:
* Experience in structured cabling installation, including CAT5E, CAT6, Fiber Optics, and Coaxial Cables.
* Proficiency in terminating, splicing, and testing cables.
* Familiarity with tools and equipment used in cabling installation and troubleshooting.
* Understanding of Canadian safety standards, building codes, and best practices.
* Physical ability to perform hands-on tasks and work in various environments.
* Valid driver?s license with a clean driving record.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with low-voltage systems and security cabling is an advantage.
Compensation:
* Hourly wage: $19.00 to $28.00 per hour, based on experience.
