<p>HOURS : 8.0 hrs/day (40 hrs/week)<p>UNION AFFILIATION: CUPE; Local 1202<p>This full time position is with an Equal Opportunity Employer and offers a wide range of assignments. The Board operates 2 administration buildings and 20 schools (18 elementary, 2 secondary) in 13 communities covering 7851 square kilometers for the welfare of 4,580 pupils. For more information visit our web site at: https://rccdsb.ca/<p>RESPONSIBILITIES : Reporting to the Manager of Plant Services or Plant Services designate, the incumbent is responsible for the cleaning of the school, and ensuring through inspection that standards of cleanliness are maintained.<p><p>DUTIES INCLUDE :<p><p><p> Carry out effective cleaning procedures of all interior and exterior parts of the building structure, furniture and equipment i.e. doors, floors, walls, windows, ceilings/light fixtures, stairways, washrooms, and carpets etc.<p> Perform the following other duties in designated sections as outlined by Plant Services Officer(s) (This is not a comprehensive list)<p> <p> Scrubbing, washing, polishing<p> Mopping wet and dry<p> Floor waxing and stripping<p> Spray buffing<p> Lifting, climbing<p> Vacuum<p> Remove recycling<p> Respond to any pages throughout the day<p> Sand, salt, shovel<p> Garbage removal<p> Furniture moving<p> <p> Perform duties related to each record, prepare and maintain accurate records as required, including monthly fire system checks, monthly emergency lighting checks, monthly fire extinguisher checks, sand/salting records, daily or weekly water flushing records, weekly eye wash system checks, sprinkler checks, work order requests, and all other ministry regulated reports/records.<p> Maintain and upkeep of all custodial equipment.<p> Ensure walkways and parking areas are properly sanded, salted, shoveled or plowed. If required shovel, salt or sand. Record daily even if sanding, salting, or plowing is not required. Records should include salting and/or sanding for Community Use of Schools on weekends and after school hours. <p> Monitor heating, cooling, and lighting as to achieve comfort for building users and conserve energy.<p> Ensure compliance with WHMIS regulations and that chemicals are used, labelled and stored safely in accordance with the Safety Data Sheet.<p> Attend the school for fire, security or other after hour?s events.<p> Assist external groups using the school facilities, including opening/locking doors, and reporting any concerns to the Principal, Plant Services Officer(s) i.e. Damages, smoking, fire regulations.<p> Assist the Principal or Designate to carry out fire drills or lockdown drills if requested.<p> Check each classroom daily.<p> Communicate effectively with the Manager/Assistant Manager of Plant Services, Plant Services Officer(s), as needed relating to staffing, equipment, supply issues and any other necessary items<p> Orientate new caretakers when required.<p> Maintain inventory of materials related to cleaning, maintenance and PPE, including ordering of supplies, , receiving and storage of materials and submitting work orders.<p> Perform reporting requirements for broken and/or damaged equipment, hazards, furniture, or board property. <p> Maintain and upkeep all custodial equipment.<p> Ensure that the heating, cooling, ventilation, water and septic systems are operating properly on a daily basis.<p> Coordinate and cooperate with board maintenance staff and contractors as needed.<p> Ability to provide and assist with any reports as needed<p> Prepare and or ensure school is ready for Fire Department and other inspections that Plant Services Officer(s)/Principal has indicated. <p> Perform minor maintenance within the building including but not limited to filter replacements, light shade replacements, and general maintenance repairs <p> Proven record of working successfully in a team environment<p> Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Designate, Manager of Plant Services or Plant Services designate, <p> Ability t- LocationPembroke, ON
