*Job Description Maintenance Manager*
The Maintenance Manager plays a pivotal leadership role in ensuring the efficient operation, safety, coordination of maintenance, repair and upkeep of residential properties managed by the Nunatsiavut Housing Commission. This role involves managing a team of maintenance staff, adherence to departmental budgets, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring that all housing facilities are safe, functional, and comply with relevant codes and regulations.
*The Opportunity*:
Reporting to the Director of Housing, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for developing and implementing maintenance schedules and procedures to keep housing facilities compliant with health, safety, and building regulations. The Maintenance Manager oversees maintenance budgets, conducts property inspections, and prepares inspection reports for the Director of Housing. Responsibilities include overseeing daily maintenance operations, assigning tasks to the maintenance team, coordinating with contractors, and efficiently using resources. The role ensures all work meets _Canadian Labour Code_ standards, addresses tenant concerns, and coordinates with external contractors. Additionally, the role provides team leadership, setting performance expectations, offering guidance, and conducting evaluations, while overseeing large-scale projects and quickly resolving maintenance issues and safety concerns.
*Who You Are:*
The ideal candidate has a bachelor?s degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Public Administration, or a related field, though equivalent experience is also considered. You have at least five years of experience in facilities or property management, ideally within a public housing or government setting, along with proven leadership and budget management skills. The role requires strong knowledge of building systems, housing codes, and safety regulations, as well as excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle housing emergencies. A valid driver?s license and familiarity with Inuit culture and language are highly desirable, and bilingual skills in Inuktitut and English are an asset.
