Job details
Education: Bachelor's degree. Surveying engineering. Surveying technology/surveying. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Outdoors. Dusty. Wet/damp. Noisy. Hot. Work setting: Urban area. Rural area. Various locations. Private sector land surveying establishments. Relocation costs not covered by employer. Tasks: Develop survey plans, methods and procedures for conducting legal surveys. Prepare all data and documents related to surveys of real property boundaries. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Record all measurements and other information obtained during survey activities. Analyze, manage and display data using geographic information systems and computer-aided design and drafting. Determine precise locations using electronic distance measuring equipment. Survey and lay out subdivisions for rural and urban development. Supervision: Staff in various areas of responsibility. Computer and technology knowledge: MS Excel. MS Word. Computer-aided design (CAD). Field skills experience: Operate survey equipment. Operate total station to obtain information about property boundaries. Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Survey specialization: Construction. Engineering. General urban. Geodetic. Land development. Subdivisions. Topographic. Land survey. Topographic survey. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Vehicle supplied by employer. Willing to travel. Travel expenses paid by employer.
