We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive *Accounting Technician* to join our Melo LLP team at our Windsor, ON location. The primary responsibility of this role is to conduct regular audits for condominium corporations in accordance with applicable laws, accounting standards, and best practices. This position does not require a CPA designation, but familiarity with condo-specific accounting practices and audit processes is highly beneficial.
Key Responsibilities:
· Condo Audits: Perform detailed audits for condo corporations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and industry standards.
· Financial Statement Preparation: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for condo boards and property management.
· Account Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and other financial data related to condo finances.
· Transaction Review: Analyze and review transactions, invoices, receipts, and payments to ensure accuracy and compliance with condo agreements.
· Internal Control Evaluation: Assess and recommend improvements to financial procedures and internal controls to enhance operational efficiency and minimize risks.
· Reporting: Prepare audit reports with detailed findings, adjustments, and recommendations for condo boards and property management teams.
· Communication: Liaise with clients (condo boards, property managers) to address any financial concerns or questions.
· Compliance: Ensure adherence to the Condominium Act of Ontario and other relevant regulations governing condo financial management.
· Software & Tools: Utilize accounting software to enter financial data, prepare reports, and conduct reconciliations.
Qualifications:
· Education: Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· Experience: 2+ years of experience in accounting or auditing, with a focus on condominium accounting or real estate preferred.
Skills:
· Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, specifically related to condo accounting.
· Familiarity with the Condominium Act and relevant regulations in Ontario.
· Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in financial reporting.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Considerations:
· Accounting Technician or bookkeeping certification is an asset.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
