We are currently looking for an experienced superintendent to join our team. The right candidate for this job will have at least 5 years? experience managing commercial construction projects for a general contractor. You will have experience running projects from initial stages through to completion. You will have ground up experience on commercial buildings and be very detail orientated. Providing examples of previous successful projects will also be a must.
Superintendent Job responsibilities:
· Create and execute the project plan and schedule in cooperation with the Project manager
· Ensure the project is built according to the approved plans, specifications, shop drawings and applicable building codes
· Review the job schedule and cost breakdown, resolving all differences of opinion with Project Manager at the beginning of the job
· Monitor and maintain project budget
· Establish and identify on-site manpower requirements
· Supervise and coordinate all construction activities
· Supervise and direct all site personnel including Field Engineers, Surveyors, sub-trades and hourly staff
· Create a safe work environment and adhere to the safety and record keeping requirements
· Ensure project materials and workmanship meet quality standards and design criteria
· Effectively communicate and obtain information from engineers, designers, consultants, inspectors, municipal authorities and clients
Superintendent Job Qualifications:
· 5 plus years of construction related experience
· Minimum 5 years? experience in the construction industry with a commercial and/or institutional general contractor
· Journeyman status in a building trade (i.e. Carpenter) AND no less than 5 years of progressive responsibility supervising construction
· Strong knowledge of construction disciplines
· Fully understand and follow plans and specifications, able to add direction and thoughtful expertise
· A demonstrated understanding of construction means and methods associated with the renovation and construction of commercial and institutional buildings and site work related thereto
· A working knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical and electrical work
· The ability to effectively communicate both in the English written and spoken word
· Proficiency with spreadsheets, Email and other software used in the construction industry
· Current safety credentials should include 1st Aid with CPR, Leadership for Safety Excellence
· Strong problem-solving skills and dealing with difficult situations with trades and workers
· Knowledge of carpentry, and door and hardware installation.
· Must be active and mobile, getting around the job site will require the use of ladders and sometimes getting into, and working in, awkward spaces
· Overall understanding of construction process including sequencing and trade responsibilities
· Strong communication and construction contract document skills including emailing
· Be Personable ? meet with Architects, Consultants and Clients while maintaining positive working relationships
· Should be willing to work out of town on occasion
· Be Honest ? willingness to admit when you?ve made a mistake and take ownership
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $90,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
