Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Outdoors. At heights. Confined spaces. Work setting: Installation. Maintenance. Repair. Telecommunications company. Testing. Various locations. Service. Telecommunications. Tasks: Inspect and test cable signals and associated equipment. Inspect trunking systems . Install and maintain aerial and underground telephone equipment. Read blueprints to determine work requirements . Test equipment to locate transmission faults. Install trunking systems, circuits and equipment. Determine nature, cause and location of trouble. Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders or other support structures. Repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers and amplifiers. Splice, join and connect wires. Troubleshoot and locate faults. Install, arrange, remove and maintain telephone equipment, wiring and associated hardware. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Repetitive tasks. Handling heavy loads.
