*Job Summary* We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Journalist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to uncovering and reporting news stories, covering arts and entertainment, sports and features that matter to the community. This role involves researching, writing, and editing articles for various platforms while ensuring accuracy and clarity in all communications. The Journalist will play a crucial role in shaping public understanding of current events and issues. The successful candidate MUST currently reside in Canada and MUST live on the South Shore in either the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg or the Region of Queens Municipality if selected. *Responsibilities* * Research and investigate news and other various stories, gathering information from various sources. * Write clear, engaging, and informative articles that adhere to editorial guidelines. * Conduct interviews with relevant individuals to gather insights and quotes for articles. * Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, grammar, and style consistency. * Collaborate with editors and other journalists to develop story ideas and angles. * Stay updated on current events, trends, and issues affecting the community. * Communicate effectively with team members and external sources to facilitate information flow. *Skills* * Strong writing skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear manner. * Proficiency in copy editing and proofreading to ensure high-quality content. * Excellent research skills to uncover facts and verify information before publication. * Effective communication skills for conducting interviews and collaborating with others. * Bilingual abilities are a plus, enhancing the reach of our stories within diverse communities. * A keen eye for detail and commitment to journalistic integrity in all reporting activities.
