This is a great opportunity to join our team and shape our community.Project Manager, WaterOverview:The Public Works department is seeking a Project Manager, (Water Operations) to join their team. This position will report to the Operations Manager and perform project management for municipal operations and capital work and is part of the management team responsible for operating, maintenance, rehabilitation and construction of the City?s water infrastructure.Examples of key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manage infrastructure replacement and upgrade projects, delivering within scope, as scheduled and on budget. Manage project layout, communications, resource requirements, scope definition, cost estimates, and scheduling of work. Research emerging technologies; conduct cost benefit analysis and prepare recommendations. Develop implementation plans and action accordingly. Liaise with other regional municipalities, Metro Vancouver and government bodies to coordinate works and communications. Develop community communications plans, programs and strategies in support of departmental initiatives. Prepare reports to staff, committees and Council. Hire, lead and provide direction to staff responsible for operating, maintenance, rehabilitation and construction of municipal infrastructure. Administer agreements, contracts, policies and bylaws. Review engineering design drawings for municipal infrastructure as well as private utilities. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, residents and businesses. Maintain up-to-date best practices and implement standard project management work flow procedures, forms and templates for managing construction projects. Establish Project Budget Control reports to identify the approved budgets, cost tracking and the forecasted total project costs. Maintain and update financial documentation. Prepare tender documents for procurement of goods and services, and liaise with the Purchasing Department as required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of applicable bylaws, procedures, policies, regulations and acts. Demonstrated ability in municipal operations, maintenance, construction and project management. Ability to create detailed project budgets with line item expenditure allowances, manage commitments and forecast final costs day-to-day during project delivery. Able to lead, supervise and manage staff in a collaborative team approach, as well as, assisting individual staff performance and development. Extensive knowledge of project management, for construction projects of varying type, size and complexity. Proven skills in customer service initiatives, innovation, and team building. Knowledge of contract management. Ability to satisfy a wide array of customer, environmental, code, and technical requirements or issues and develop creative solutions. Ability to prepare effective briefings, reports and presentations, demonstrating effective written and oral communication skills to a wide variety of audiences including public committees. Skill in the use of applicable mobile and office software and applications.
