Embrace a fulfilling career while making a meaningful impact in a stunning natural setting, filled with opportunities for outdoor adventure!Mental Health and Addictions Counsellors (MHAC) provide direct, community based, culturally sensitive, mental health, addictions, and family violence counselling services to clients of all ages. These services include but are not limited to: prevention and promotion initiatives; community outreach; therapeutic counselling services; system navigation; and crisis response services.The Counsellor is also a key referral agent and service provider for clients living with complex addictions, family violence, and psychiatric issues who may be referred for inpatient or facility-based treatment or other services outside of the community.This position operates within a framework of Stepped Care 2.0 and provides a full range of education, prevention, therapeutic counselling, out-patient treatment, and aftercare, to minimize the negative physical, mental, social and emotional impacts of substance use, family violence, mental illness, and trauma.Northwest Territories' MHACs are provided with one of the highest salaries in Canada, including an incredible compensation and recruitment package. The annual salary range for a full-time MHAC in the NWT ranges from $103,818 to $124,020, with potential additional gross earnings (before overtime) of between approximately $23,700 and $53,200 within the first year of employment, based on northern living allowance, recruitment bonus, 1-year retention bonus, and other paid benefits.Additional benefits include relocation assistance, professional fees reimbursements, northern tax benefits (up to $11/day in deductions after 6-months of residency), outstanding leave benefits, a defined benefit pension plan, health and dental plans, maternity and parental leave, professional development opportunities, education support, and an optional deferred salary leave plan.These positions typically require a master's degree in counselling, psychology, or clinical social work, or a related discipline with a focus on therapeutic counselling, plus one year of relevant therapeutic counselling experience in a scope of practice or experience in addictions, mental health, and family violence.Check out available positions at https://www.practicenwt.ca/en/hss-careers.We are also accepting locum and casual applicants.
