Our company's success is driven by our dynamic, highly skilled, and innovative management team, supported by dedicated employees who live in coastal communities and contribute to the local area's economy and sense of community.The RoleAs a Brokerage Manager, you will use your many years of logistics expertise to lead the Brokerage team in a wide array of responsibilities, including motivating and managing your staff. ResponsibilitiesMarket, service and promote Connors Transfer and Shoreland Transport's transportation products and services.Maintain an existing book of customer accounts.Maintain and build effective relationships with customers and carriers.Develop and manage a network of outside carriers to move freight in the most profitable manner.Participate in the development of annual revenue and profit budgets, as well as ownership for the establishment and tracking of KPIs to successfully achieve those budgets.Negotiate rates with carriers to meet margin requirements and ensure maximum profitability.Meet or exceed required margin and revenue goals for the division.Ensure customer satisfaction and service levels with freight picked up and delivered using safe, reliable carriers.Build freight volume from existing customers.Working in conjunction with our Business Development team, solicit new sales by developing leads and cold calling potential customers.Work within Transportation Management team to develop operational efficiencies, standardize where possible and manage towards strategic goals. Identify and implement operational improvement initiatives that provide service, financial and/or productivity results. Participate in critical reviews of key indicators, incidents, audits, inspection and improvement opportunities resulting in effective implementation of corrective actions. Manage and develop Brokerage team members through effective communication, objective setting, and coaching. Develop Training Plans for new employees and ensure all training development plans for current employees are created and completed in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with applicable Policies, Procedures, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and knowledge of DOT and FMCSA rules and regulations.Qualifications10+ years of progressive experience in fast moving consumer products logistics/freight brokerage, ideally with significant time spent with perishable products. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in the use of Excel, MS Office, TMS and BI database tools are required.
