*St. Jacobs Place Retirement Residence *offers luxury retirement and assisted living in Ontario's rural gem, the village of St. Jacobs, at the northern edge of Kitchener Waterloo. We are a lovely, intimate size with only 50 suites, permitting time for some creativity and special touches from our cooks and servers. The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: * Prepare meals for residents and guests ensuring all dietary needs are met * Ensures residents are satisfied with all aspects of food preparation and presentation * Respond to resident and/or family member dietary related concerns in a timely manner assuring the concern is brought to the attention of the Culinary Manager * Effectively communicate and interact with residents, family members, visitors and volunteers professionally * Operate and clean food production equipment and food preparation areas Cook Qualifications Include: -Strong knowledge and experience in Canadian cuisine, particularly homestyle meals - ability to read and follow set recipes -strong organizational and time management skills -passion for food and the culinary industry -current food handlers certification is an asset -customer service oriented This position is for a part-time/casual cook. The shifts for this position are a combination of either 7:00am to 1:30pm or 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. The considered candidate will be flexible and available for either shift as needed. Job Types: Part-time, Permanent Pay: $17.75 per hour Schedule: * Day shift * Holidays * Monday to Friday * Weekends as needed Experience: * cooking: 1 year (required) Licence/Certification: * Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred) Work Location: In person
