We are focused on hiring only those exceptional individuals who value safety in the workplace and remain committed to the collective goal of maintaining our Aecon ?zero injury? culture. *PURPOSE OF THE POSITION* As part of the greater remediation project at *Giant Mine in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories;* we have multiple opportunities ranging from *Apprentice to experienced Journeyperson Millwright.* These roles are expected to start in Mid-February 2025 and will work a 14/7 rotation 10 hours/day, LOA, camp (Yellowknife Lodge) & transportation is provided, subject to qualified applicants. Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the *Millwright Apprentice or Journeyperson* will be responsible to ensure Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. achieves their general and specific project requirements. *ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES* * Read diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures * Operate rig equipment and dollies to move heavy machinery and parts * Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts (often to within a fraction of a millimeter tolerance) * Align and test equipment and adjust * Perform preventive and operational maintenance using procedures such as vibration analysis, and repair or replace defective parts * Trouble-shoot hydraulic, pneumatic and programmable logic controls * Tack welding and fabrication as well as maintain an inventory of replacement part. *KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS* * Certified Journeyman Trade Ticket or indentured in the apprenticeship program * Physical strength and stamina * Manual dexterity * Mechanical aptitude * The ability to read and understand complex instructions and drawings * The ability to do careful and precise work * May be required to lift items weighing over 25 kilograms * Must be willing to work in remote job locations * Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test * Must have a strong understanding of safety procedures and policies on an industrial job site *OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* * Review work assignments and job procedures to ensure safe and reliable work execution * Perform field work to a high quality and provide thorough follow up with proper and efficient documentation of work * Perform proactive maintenance, trouble shooting and repairs for a wide range of Instrumentation and control equipment, such as Hydraulic operated valves, various pressure and flow measurements, radiation density Gauges, Radar level transmitters, CCTV monitoring systems, Computerized control systems *KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS* * The ability to pay careful attention to details * Good communication and reading skills * Physical strength and stamina * Good co-ordination and manual dexterity * Ability to visualize a layout by looking at plans and blueprints * Ability to comprehend and trouble-shoot mechanical systems * Ability to get along with and sometimes supervise the work of others * Ability to keep up to date with changing technology. *PHYSICAL DEMANDS* * Repetitive movement * Able to perform in a fast-paced environment * Shift work * Manual dexterity * Able to work in all weather conditions and environments Job Types: Full-time, Apprenticeship Pay: $29.57-$49.27 per hour Additional pay: * Overtime pay Education: * AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (required) Experience: * millwright: 2 years (preferred) Work Location: In person
