Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Dusty. Tasks: Professionalism in customer service. Drive lighter, special purpose trucks. Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform brake adjustments. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Transport and handle dangerous goods. Help tradespersons, apprentices and other workers as directed. Documentation knowledge: Maintenance and repair reports. Trip reports. Transportation/travel experience: Local. Short-haul. Security and safety: Basic security clearance. Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Handling heavy loads. Large workload. Overtime required. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Sitting. Weight handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Cellular phone. Hard hat. Steel-toed safety boots. Safety vest. Gloves.
