LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITY - Assistant Superintendent <p>The Saanich School District (SD63) invites applications for the position of Assistant Superintendent with an anticipated start date of May 1, 2025, or earlier if operationally feasible.<p>Located on the beautiful Saanich Peninsula near Victoria, the Saanich School District serves approximately 7,500 students in eight elementary, three middle and three secondary schools, as well as two Individual Learning Centres (ILC), a successful Provincial Online Learning School (South Island Distance Education School, SIDES) and the Children's Development Centre (CDC). The District employs 650 teachers, 38 principals and vice-principals, 500 unionized support staff, 21 exempt management staff, all within an annual operational budget of $100 million. <p>Strong working relationships with all partner groups, including the local WSNEC First Nation, have resulted in the Saanich School District having a well-established reputation of excellent student achievement and program innovation within a strong culture of caring and respect. <p>Reporting to the Superintendent of Schools this position is a key member of the District Executive Team and will share in the leadership, management and future direction of the Saanich School District. Duties will be as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools. <p>The successful candidate will be recognized as an outstanding educator who has demonstrated superior leadership at the school &/or district level. Essential attributes for this critical leadership position include: A Masters degree in K-12 education, leadership or related field; <p> Eligible for a Certificate of Qualification from the BC Teacher Regulation Branch; <p> Ability to work effectively with and support the Board of Education in its important governance responsibilities; <p> A clear record of commitment to visionary leadership, collaboration, innovation, professionalism and excellence; <p> A commitment and demonstrated experience to equity, inclusion and reconciliation along with an understanding of the WSNEC First Nation and/or broader Indigenous communities; <p> An understanding and commitment to the First Peoples Principles of Learning; <p> Accountability with high expectations of self and others; <p> Builds the capacity of system leaders to be innovative, courageous and compassionate; <p> A strong work ethic combined with personal integrity and a collaborative leadership style; <p> Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills; <p> Clearly demonstrated success in project initiation, implementation and completion; <p> Embraces technological innovation as a key instrument to creating equity in educational opportunities; <p> Broad knowledge of the BC K-12 curriculum and education system; <p> Experience in understanding and implementing K-12 legislative and collective agreement requirements; <p> Extensive school-based administrative experience providing the ability to support and supervise school administrators to enhance their growth and leadership; <p> Strong analytical and organizational skills to work with budgets, staffing allocations and other critical district operational requirements. Having a positive interpersonal skill set will allow the successful candidate to build and maintain our District's strong relationships with rights holders, partner groups, parents/guardians and the broader community while employing best practices in helping move our organization forward.<p>We are seeking a candidate who sees this critical role as requiring a long-term commitment.
