*Overview* Island Family owned SharKare Farm and Feed has been doing business on Vancouver Island since 1986. We are in need of a local driver to handle our retail store deliveries and Pick ups. This Driver roll is a hands on roll which requires operation of Electric Pallet Jack use to delivery full pallets of pet food, farm feed and garden supplies to our retail stores. We have 8 locations located between Duncan to Campbell River. The work schedule is Monday-Thursday. We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Local Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods and materials within a designated area while ensuring timely and safe delivery. This role requires strong attention to detail and adherence to safety regulations, making it essential for candidates to have a solid understanding of vehicle operation and maintenance. *Duties* * Operate company vehicles to transport freight and materials to various locations within the local area. * Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations. * Load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage during transit. * Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery confirmations. * Communicate effectively with dispatchers and management regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise during transportation. * Assist in basic automotive repairs and maintenance as needed to keep vehicles in optimal condition. * Follow all traffic laws and company policies while operating vehicles, ensuring the safety of yourself and others on the road. *Qualifications* * Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred; experience in commercial driving is a plus. * Familiarity with heavy equipment operation is advantageous. * Experience operating forklifts is desirable for loading and unloading tasks. * Strong knowledge of automotive repair principles is beneficial for vehicle maintenance. * Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. * Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for clear interaction with team members and clients. * Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and professionalism at all times.
