November 18, 2024<p>Notice of M.A.S.S. vacancy<p><p><p>Position: Labour Relations & Workplace Investigations Specialist <p>Salary Range: Band 8: $98,286.00 - $117,206.00<p>Location: Human Resources, J. W. Singleton Education Centre<p>Work Schedule: 35 hours/week, 12 months/year<p>Effective Date: As Soon As Possible <p><p><p>Position Summary:<p>Reporting to the General Manager of Human Resources, the Labour Relations and Workplace Investigations Specialist conducts workplace investigations and plays a lead role in the resolution of workplace complaints, including harassment, discrimination, and child abuse allegations. The position facilitates and provides support, research, and analysis for all labour relations and dispute resolution procedures, including collective bargaining, and the grievance, mediation, and arbitration processes.<p>The HDSB recently introduced a Work from Home Administrative Procedure. In accordance with this Administrative Procedure and with the approval of the immediate supervisor, employees who work at HDSB administrative sites may work from home for up to 50% of their regularly scheduled hours. Work from Home arrangements may change based on the future needs of the Board. The HDSB offers funding for professional development in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Employment for management and administration support staff. <p><p><p>Key Responsibilities:<p><p><p><p> Conduct workplace investigations, including the investigation of discrimination, respectful workplace, harassment, misconduct and child protection complaints. <p> <p> Prepare written investigation reports and provide recommendations with respect to appropriate resolution and corrective action. <p> <p> Facilitate and provide support, research, and analysis for all dispute resolution procedures, including the grievance, mediation, and arbitration processes.<p> <p> Coordinate, support and conduct research for collective bargaining processes.<p> <p> Develop and update procedures and processes relating to workplace investigations, including due diligence and procedural fairness issues<p> <p> Advise senior administration, principals, managers and supervisors, and staff on matters relating to workplace investigations and dispute resolution issues, as well as Board Policies and Procedures.<p> <p> Provide training on Human Rights, investigative procedures, due diligence, procedural fairness issues, and associated legislative obligations to senior administration, principals, manager and supervisors.<p><p><p><p>Qualifications:<p><p><p><p> Bachelor?s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field is a requirement for this position. Bachelor?s degree in Labour or Industrial Relations, preferred.<p> <p> Five years of progressive Human Resources experience in a complex multi-union and public-sector environment. <p> <p> Three to five years experience in labour relations including negotiations, grievances, arbitration, collective agreement administration and interpretation, human rights, and workplace harassment investigations is preferred. <p> <p> CHRL designation<p> <p> Knowledge of workplace investigations standards, best practices and report writing. <p><p><p><p><p>Knowledge and understanding of relevant employment legislations and regulation, such as the Ontario Labour Relations Act, the School Board Collective Bargaining Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (as it relates to Workplace Harassment). <p><p><p>Applications, along with your resume and other supporting documents must be submitted through Apply to Education - https://hdsb.simplication.com/WLSBLogin.aspx?returnurl=%2f by <p>4:00pm on Friday, November 29, 2024<p><p><p>Job Category: Management & Professionals - Job Code #3910088<p><p><p>We thank all applicants for their interest in opportunities with the Halton District School Board.
