Demands, duties, qualifications The Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Support Worker (PTA/OTA) assists the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist in the delivery of rehabilitation services to clients by carrying out assigned programs and activities with clients in the hospital and community. Qualifications : Graduation from High School or equivalency;Successful completion of a Two-year diploma from a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program is preferred; OR completion of a one-year health related certificate and willing to complete a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program within a reasonable time frame as determined by the employer;Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR);Ability to understand and demonstrate correct body mechanics;Knowledge of Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy;Ability to use computer is an asset or ability and desire to complete study program for same;The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct. Duties: (include but not limited to): Carries out individual and group program and activities as assigned by a licensed Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist;Provides and maintains rehab equipment as required for specific client use under direction of PT/OT;Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with work facilities and co-workers;Organizes and manages time effectively;Works with some independence and self-initiative;Maneuvers heavy equipment, performs lifts/transfers of physically and/or cognitively impaired clients;Assists with treatments and assessments as required;Maintains a clean and safe environment;Maintains accurate workload measurement statistics for all client and non-client related activities;All other related duties.
