2171449 Alberta LTD is recruiting on behalf of our client, Holiday Inn Edmonton South ? Evario Events. The First H4 property with Conferencing and Banqueting facilities in Canada with 126 state of the art rooms, Lobby restaurant & bar, a 20,000 sq. ft. banqueting and conferencing facilities. We are looking for YOU to join our team.
*What?s the job?*
As an Accountant, you will forecast the financial operations of the hotel ? while managing hotel assets ? and ensuring a centralized accounting environment. You will be responsible to ensure the hotel, event centre and restaurant revenues are adequately recorded and audited. Report to the Management on financial-related issues faced and ensure policy and procedures are followed in all revenue streams.
*Key duties include: *
* Preparing monthly financial statements.
* Preparing all journal entries required to close the month end.
* Booking accruals, amortization and prepaid expenses at month end.
* Checking and auditing daily income audit reports from Night Audit.
* Checking and reconciling General Cashier Reports against PMS reports.
* To post revenues and expenditures only after ensuring correctness of account coding, nature and completeness;
* To reconcile all supplier accounts, to post all payables, and to pay vendors in accordance with due dates and cash flow projections;
* To monitor city ledger and guest ledger transactions, and to collect all receivables on a timely basis;
* Performing bank accounts and credit card statement reconciliations.
* To review and reconcile the IHG Franchise statements and ensure its paid in timely manner.
* Dealing with Credit Card disputes and chargebacks.
* Responding to requests for internal management reports.
* Performing/ observing annual inventory counts and verify inventory valuations.
* Manage and comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
* Follow-up and resolve past due accounts and vendor invoices until payment in full is received or resolved.
* Prepare daily consolidated deposits of cash received by all cash handling employees. Document, maintain, communicate, and act upon all Cash Variances.
* Duties associated with Hotel Accountant position including but not limited to the above listings
*What we need from you*
* Understanding of hospitality accounting is a requirement.
* Experience ? 1 -2 years (IHG experience preferred but not essential)
* Bachelor?s degree / higher education qualification / equivalent in Accounting or Finance.
* Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Opera and Sage.
* Detail oriented with the ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
* Strong communication skills.
* Ability to multi- task.
* Working knowledge on Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Cashiering.
* Must speak, read and write in the primary language used in the workplace ? English
* Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets; protect the privacy and security of guests and coworkers.
Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
