Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Noisy. Work setting: Manufacture. Tasks: Interpret welding process specifications. Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment. Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes. Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications. Operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines. Type of materials: Aluminum alloys. Steel, iron and heavy metals. Welding techniques: Oxy-acetylene welding (OAW). Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG). Gas metal arc welding (GMAW). Spool. Equipment and machinery experience: Gas welding machine. Area of specialization: Custom fabrication. Ornamental work. Fencing, balconies, stairs and railings. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Handling heavy loads. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Mask. Welding helmet.
