<div>Details of the position Job title: Laboratory Technician  School / Centre / Department : Richmond Regional High School Location : Richmond, Quebec Workload & schedule : 25 hours per week, from Monday to Friday The schedule may vary according to the class schedules. Status :  Regular, full-time  Effective Date :  December 9, 2024  Hourly Rate :  $26.38 - $35.22  Supervisor : School principal Nature of the work  The principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consists in assisting teachers and students in preparing, presenting, supervising and evaluating laboratory and shop work. In addition, he or she may be required to perform the duties of laboratory attendant. The role also consists in ensuring, in conjunction with teachers, that students respect safety rules during laboratory work, that they use the material appropriately and that they apply the appropriate techniques. Description of tasks <ul><li>In conjunction with teachers, demonstrate, give instructions, advise, guide and oversee students in carrying out laboratory work.</li><li>Ensure students follow the instructions given and respect the safety rules while using material places at their disposal, including hazardous products, tools, and machinery.</li><li>Participate in evaluating students' work.</li><li>Work with teachers to prepare the schedule of laboratory work and the use of premises, material, and equipment.</li><li>If need be, test and modify projects for students and may find new ones.</li><li>Prepare material, chemical, or other products and equipment required to carry out the laboratory work planned.</li><li>Participate in selecting apparatus, tools, machinery, and instruments.<ul><li>Calibrate and maintain them and ensures the repairs.</li></ul></li><li>Keep inventory of materials and products.<ul><li>Prepare purchasing orders or carry out purchases required for laboratory work.</li><li>May monitor the budget allocated to his or her sector.</li></ul></li><li>Ensure, according to standards, identification, use, storage, and disposal of hazardous products.</li><li>May participate in organizing exhibits.</li><li>May be required to train less experiences technicians as well as coordinate the work of support staff in performing the duties related to the implementation of programs involving technical operations for which he or she is responsible. </li><li>If need be, perfor
