The primary objective of this project is to develop complete family trees for all Westbank First Nation (WFN) members through research, records review, interviews, community events, and family meetings. This project provides opportunities to strengthen community bonds by identifying connections between individuals and families; to preserve and revive culture, traditions, languages, and stories through interviews with elders and knowledge holders; and to highlight Westbank First Nation history and heritage by developing a member-accessible database to share information.The Research Assistants will work together and with the Project Team to support the ongoing development of a project plan that is flexible and reflects community priorities. Research Assistants are integral to the success of this project as they will be the primary information collectors and the most visible in the community as representatives of the project. Research Assistants will be required to participate in various training and skill development opportunities, along with other members of the Project Team, in order to develop enhanced capacity for ancestry and genealogical research.Want to know more?
