LOCATION: System-wide Responsibility<p>STATUS: 1.0 FTE - Full-time Temporary <p>UNION AFFILIATION: COPE Local 103<p>This full-time temporary position is with an Equal Opportunity Employer and offers a wide range of assignments. The Board operates 2 administration buildings and 20 schools (18 elementary, 2 secondary) in 13 communities covering 7851 square kilometers for the welfare of 4,580 pupils. For more information visit our web site at: https://rccdsb.ca/<p>JOB SUMMARY: <p>Under the supervision of the Superintendent of Educational Services, and board Speech Language Pathologists, the Communicative Disorders Assistant will be required to implement approved programing in support of students. As part of a multi-disciplinary approach, the special education team supports schools and students using a tiered, educational model of service delivery.<p>RESPONSIBILITIES: <p><p> Coordinates with home setting and school for program delivery<p> Conducts language screening of students at schools throughout board jurisdiction<p> Arranges and delivers one-to-one and small group articulation therapy and language programs based on assessment and treatment plan of speech and language pathologist<p> Prepares notes, reports and tracks inventory and resources for speech and language pathologist<p> Collaborates with school teams and provides support to classroom teachers and other staff<p> Models strategies for staff<p> Prepares relevant materials for program delivery based on student specific data <p> Participates in board-initiated training<p> Implement, troubleshoot, and support augmentative and alternative communication tools<p><p>QUALIFICATIONS : <p><p> Communicative Disorders Assistant Graduate Certificate program from an accredited training facility or equivalent;<p> Experience working with individuals with complex communication needs;<p> A self-motivated, critical thinking team player with superior inter-personal and organizational skills;<p> A composed, discreet and professional manner; demonstrates the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment; <p> Excellent command of verbal and written English; <p> A valid Ontario Driver?s License in good standing with the Ministry of Transportation, and access to a reliable mode of transportation for travel among the Board?s schools and offices;<p> Dedicated to continuing education and attending related Board-sponsored courses/seminars, etc.<p><p>CLOSING: All interested applicants are invited to submit an updated resume including details of qualifications, experience and professional references.<p>TO NOTE: <p><p> Applications sent directly to the schools or to Human Resources will NOT be considered.<p> It is imperative that all NEW applicants to the Board submit an ORIGINAL current, satisfactory Vulnerable Screening Criminal Background Check prior to commencement of employment. <p> We thank all candidates for their interest; however, only those shortlisted will be contacted.<p><p>RCCDSB- Is committed to barrier-free selection processes and therefore if contacted for this position or testing, you should advise the HR Department in a timely fashion of the accommodation measures required to enable you to be assessed in a fair and equitable manner.<p><p>Bob Schreader<p>Mark Searson<p>Chairperson<p>Director of Education<p><p> <p>
