Responsibilities
Tasks

Adjust their designs to conform to limiting factors such as budget allocation and cost of materials

Award construction contracts to building contractors
-
Consult with clients to determine the type, style and purpose of renovations or new building construction being considered

Generate building plans and detailed drawings to be used by contractors and tradespersons
-
Manage the coordination and overall integration of technical activities in architecture or engineering projects
-
Negotiate contracts with clients with a focus on design, construction time, price or others

Participate in contract negotiations

Prepare documents showing both the structural needs and the materials required for construction

Project management
-
Supervise the preparation of drawings, specifications and other construction documents for use by contractors and tradespersons

Conceptualize and design buildings and develop plans describing design specifications, building materials, costs and construction schedules

Construction site supervision

Prepare sketches and models

Conduct feasibility studies of building projects

Supervision of technologists, technicians and other architects
