Regardless of experience, age, ability, or learning goals, Windsure has a program designed for anyone looking to get out on the water. Through rentals, lessons, group programs, and youth camps, the team at Windsure is dedicated to creating an experience for as many watersport-seekers as possible! What do these values mean to you? *What you?ll do: * We are looking for a Windsport Instructor to join our energetic and outdoor-loving team! This position will teach our introductory Discover Windsurfing I & II programs, running daily, along with our Discover Wingsurfing programs. While these classes are geared towards adults, youth do enroll from time-to-time. This position may also be asked to teach our afternoon Windsurfing Summer Camps or Windfoil Development Program. If no classes are scheduled, time will be spent inspecting and maintaining equipment or assisting our beach hut team. There is also an opportunity to run or help run workshops on various intermediate/advanced topics (harness, footstraps, shortboard, foiling, freestyle) as well as teach private lessons. As such, the candidate?s skills must be commensurate with these topics. We are very open to accepting out of country explorers to our team. In fact, many of our windsurfing instructors in past years have been visitors to Canada! Some examples of the daily tasks of a Windsport Instructor * Teach windsurfing/wingsurfing lessons including: preparation of equipment, basic wind geometry, dryland simulator, wetsuit & life jacket fitting, learning debrief, continued learning options * Implement Discover Windsurfing I & II, Discover Wingsurfing, summer camp and special workshops class lesson plans/curriculum, tailor private lessons according to guest interest * Teach and mentor other instructors, service staff on windsurfing skills and knowledge * Implementation of windsurfing curriculum for all levels of windsurfing instruction. * Possess knowledge of windsurfing/wingsurfing equipment and parts from all major brands. *You?re a good fit if you: * * Love being outside and active, especially on the water * Are proficient in one or more of our watersports (the more, the better) * Know how to create memorable customer and learning experience * Have an understanding and/or curiosity of race, gender, BIPOC, LGBTQ2SIA+ and climate justice issues and are committed to creating safe community spaces *What we?re looking for: * * Knowledge and appreciation of windsurfing/wingsurfing * Windsurfing/wingsurfing teaching experience * Able to lift and carry minimum 50 lbs * Fluent spoken English * Pleasure Craft Operating Card (PCOC) or willingness to get it * Valid First Aid Training * Valid Criminal Record Check or willingness to get one * Able to work in Canada * Shortboard, racing, high wind, freestyle and foiling (teaching) experience are bonuses *Additional Role Information & Benefits: * * Access to free equipment rentals and lessons- LocationVancouver, BC
