Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Dusty. Clean. Work setting: Commercial. Residential. Various locations. Work in employer's/client's home. Tasks: Inspect, measure and mark surfaces to be covered. Measure, cut and fasten underlay and underpadding. Measure, cut and install resilient floor coverings. Prepare and install hardwood floors. Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings. Prepare floors for installations. Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants. Smooth gouges with wood filler and sand wood. Smooth rough edges using belt sander or smoothing wheels. Sand, trim, grind or clean products into final form using hand tools. File, grind and sand body surfaces to be repaired. Vacuum floors. Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain or polish to finished products; prepare and apply laminated plastics. Type of product: Power tools. Equipment and machinery experience: Circular saws. Wood finishing specialization: Staining. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driver's validity licence check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Own vehicle. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Ability to distinguish between colours. Hand-eye co-ordination. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills. Judgement. Organized. Team player.
