(EMC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Medavie Health Services (MHS) that manages and operates ground ambulance, air medical transport and the medical communications operations in Nova Scotia through a performance-based contract with the provincial government's Emergency Health Services (EHS) Operations division and the Department of Health and Wellness. As well, EMC operates TeleHealth/811 medical communications for Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island for the Department of Health.</p><p></p><p>We access all communities in Nova Scotia in a timely and efficient manner with our fleet of more than 180 ambulances and support vehicles operating out of 60+ stations. Apply now to learn more about our service and available positions.</p><p><span> *</span></p><p>Title: ACP EPSO Specialist (Alternate)</p><p>Rate of Pay: $37.12 - $43.93</p><p>Status: Full-time</p><p>Location: Yarmouth, Pubnico or Barrington</p><p></p><p>Nature of Position: </p><p></p><p>The Emergency Preparedness and Special Operations (EPSO) Division collaborates with regional operation teams in the surveillance, planning, response, recovery, and reporting of non-routine events and projects throughout Nova Scotia.</p><p><br>EPSO Specialists are required to contribute to the Operations Division by specializing in Bio-Haz, bariatric, psychiatric transports, and police operations, and incident management support. In addition to special operations duties, candidates will be responsible for the maintenance and replenishment of the equipment Bariatric Unit(s), Bio-Haz equipment, disaster caches, all-terrain vehicles and role specific PPE.</p><p></p><p>EPSO Specialists will be responsible to initiate, develop, and maintain organization relationships with stakeholder groups (Police Spec. Ops., Fire Services, and healthcare institutions). These Specialists must be able to wear air-purifying respirators for long periods (up to 6 hours) and be able to operate all-terrain vehicles in any season. Specialists are also required to be outside in extreme weather, water, and hazardous environments for long periods of time. The EPSO Specialists must be prepared to respond to incidents using helicopters, planes, and boats for long durations.<br> </p><p>The successful candidates will be required to perform overtime on occasion (up to 24hrs per pay period) and may require to be routinely seconded from routine operations to perform special operation projects that may require domestic or international travel. Also, must be available to work a variety of hours as shifts may vary in length.</p><p></p><p>This full-time role will be as a paramedic in a system status ambulance and will be moved to the EPSO role when required.</p><p></p><p>This position can be based out of Yarmouth (Home of Bar Habour Ferry to Maine, Pubnico (Acadian History) or Barrington (the Lobster capitol of Canada) in Nova Scotia.</p><p><br>Qualifications:<br>?
