Job details
Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Hospital/medical facility or clinic. Private clinic. Tasks: Ensure infection control. Take vital signs. Provide technical assistance to surgeons by laying out instruments, setting up equipment, assisting surgical teams with gowns and gloves and passing instruments to surgeons. Clean and sterilize the operating room and instruments. Provide pre-operative and post-operative personal and comfort care. Monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy. Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families. Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures. Monitor patients' progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of healthcare team. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Eligible for licensure as a practical nurse by the province/territory of work. Completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate. CPR Certificate. First Aid Certificate. Security and safety: Basic security clearance. Criminal record check. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Repetitive tasks. Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Ability to distinguish between colours. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Standing for extended periods. Screening questions: Are you currently legally able to work in Canada?.
