Peak North America Construction is seeking a highly engaged, analytical and detail orientated Accounting Assistant to join our team in our Prince George office. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, multitasking, and working as part of a collaborative team across multiple businesses.
*Primary Responsibilities and Duties:*
* Perform day-to-day financial transactions and data entry, including verifying, posting, and recording accounts payable/receivable data;
* Accurately and efficiently process payroll for all employees, ensuring timely payment in accordance with company policies and legal requirements;
* Maintain detailed records, address payroll discrepancies, and collaborate with HR, field supervisors and finance teams to ensure seamless payroll operations;
* Reconcile group benefits accounts with vendor statements to ensure the accuracy of employee benefits deductions and company contributions;
* Prepare and issue intercompany invoices in compliance with corporate guidelines and timelines;
* Reconcile intercompany transactions to ensure all billing and payments are accurately reflected in the accounting system;
* Prepare government remittances, including payroll deductions, GST/HST, corporate taxes, and other statutory requirements;
* Prepare monthly financial reconciliations for all general ledger accounts to ensure accurate and timely reporting, compile month-end financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets for review by management;
* Maintain and organize excel spreadsheets and records for the accounting department;
* Vendor Payments and cheque runs;
* Credit applications for new vendor accounts;
* Reconcile vendor statements;
* Post invoices and payments to ERP in a timely and accurate manner ensuring expenses are charged to proper departments and accounts;
* Respond to all vendor inquiries and corresponding with vendors and clients through email and telephone;
* Reconcile bank statements;
* Provide general support and coverage to the accounting team;
* Other duties as requested.
*Education & Experience*
* Post secondary education or combination of experience & education preferred;
* Certificate or diploma in bookkeeping, accounting or business administration is considered an asset;
* 2+ years of related experience including the use of accounting software;
* Proficient in MS Office programs including Word and Outlook, with advanced skills in MS Excel;
* Experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and management information systems experience an asset;
* Attention to detail, organization and numeracy skills are essential;
* Self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a team-oriented setting;
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
* Demonstrated ability to problem solve and take initiative.
