*Summary*
The Health Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Manager creates a culture of safety and environmental excellence as the leader of the HSSE department nationally. At Iconic Power Systems our number one priority is making sure everyone gets home safely.
Reporting to the Director of People & Safety, the HSSE Manager is pivotal and accountable to our core value of safety. The HSSE Manager is responsible for ensuring that all applicable regulatory requirements are adhered to, and that policies and practices are adopted. They help to plan, implement, monitor and review the protective and preventative measures that the company is required or chooses to follow, and works to minimize operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents, and injuries. The HSSE Manager also plays a leadership role in mentoring, coaching and training HSSE best practices.
*Qualifications*
* Mandatory Canadian Registered Safety Professional *(CRSP)* Designation.
* Degree, Certificate or Diploma in related discipline (i.e. Health and Safety Certificate, Environmental studies certification). Equivalent experience will be considered.
* A minimum of 10 years of related HSSE experience that includes at least 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience.
* High voltage construction experience.
*Skills*
* Advanced health, safety, security and environmental management skills.
* Knowledge of civil, substation, distribution and transmission line construction and associated safety risks.
* Expertise in Alberta and Ontario provincial Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S), Workers Compensation Board (WCB)/Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB), Environmental Protection and other regulatory standards.
* Ability to resolve complex issues in a timely manner.
* Ability to build relationships with client and subcontractor HSSE professionals.
* Comfortable and proficient with computer safety software such as SiteDocs, ISNetworld, ComplyWorks and MS Office.
*Duties*
* Leads the company in complying with current health, safety, security and environmental legislation and/or regulations within the provinces that Iconic Power Systems operates in.
* Ensures that all reasonable and proper measures are taken to protect the safety of employees, clients and visitors on site and in the office.
* Increases health, safety, security and environmental awareness at all levels within the organization.
* Leads and participates in the development of HSSE policies and procedures to meet the needs of the organization and support with operational execution.
* Leads and participates in the development and maintenance of HSSE Dashboard and reporting.
* Maintain the incident reporting practice that promotes proactive reporting of all safety and environmental opportunities and/or near misses with the goal of continuous improvement.
* Responds to employees? safety & environmental concerns.
* Maintains COR (Certificate of Recognition), ISNetworld and other client or provincial certifications.
* Maintains and oversees Safety Manual to ensure we meet client and OH&S regulations.
* Maintains and oversees Environmental Manual to ensure we meet client and environmental protection legislation/regulations.
* Support safety culture by visiting all job sites throughout the project at least once.
* In conjunction with Operations Management, issuing verbal/written infractions to non-compliant workers and maintaining documentation.
* Participating and preparing HSSE components for bid qualification packages.
