We encourage applications from all qualified candidates.<p>Position: An Educational Assistant is required to assist students with severe social/emotional behavioral challenges and complex learning needs.<p>Duties to Commence: Immediately or as mutually agreed upon.<p>Qualifications & Duties: Committed to being a model and witness to Christ-centered education values and beliefs.<p> Apply foundational knowledge about First Nations, Mtis and Inuit for the benefit of all students, and support the Divisions goals towards advancing Truth and Reconciliation.<p> Completion of the Education Assistant Program at MacEwan University or equivalent post-secondary training is an asset.<p> Knowledge and experience working with diverse learners who are on the autism spectrum is required. <p> Specialized training in behaviour, such as Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training or equivalent is required.<p> Work directly with the teacher in maintaining a safe and secure environment for both students and staff through the application of de-escalation strategies and non-violent physical intervention techniques.<p> Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care, including the ability to recognize, respond, and support individuals in a compassionate, non-judgmental manner, maintaining an environment of safety and trust.<p> Ability to actively de escalate a student during incidents of dysregulation.<p> Ability to work with a student that requires intensive supports in communication.<p> Ability to work with a student that requires intensive supports in behaviour.<p> Ability to reinforce appropriate behaviours through calm actions and patience.<p> Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a strong, interdisciplinary team.<p> Experience with assisting with the implementation of student Individual Program Plans. <p> Physically able to engage/assist with safety plans. <p> Experience assisting with the implementation of positive, proactive behavioural interventions including competence using specific strategies such as visual supports, sensory supports, reinforcement schedules, teaching problem-solving skills, social stories, etc. <p> Willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) daily. <p>For more information on this position, please contact: <p>Lisa Kleparchuk, Principal Monique Belanger-Aultman, Principal<p>Legal School St. Kateri Tekakwitha Academy <p>Phone: 780 961-3791 Phone: 587-764-0420 <p>Email: lkleparchuk@gsacrd.ab.ca Email: maultman@gsacrd.ab.ca <p>Only online applications will be accepted.
