Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Beef cattle ranching and farming, including feedlots. Hog and pig farming. Hog management. Turkey farming. All weather conditions. Work setting: Staff accommodation provided. Remote location. Tasks: Develop and guide the behaviour of farm animals. Disinfect pens, barns or poultry houses. Handling animals. Monitoring animal health. Organize tasks to accomplish the work. Perform animal grooming activities . Perform livestock feeding. Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration. Prepare a clean, dry area for cows that are calving. Track and report on current feed inventory . Weaning. Feed and tend animals. Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures. Maintain financial and production records. Carry out a pasture or pen breeding programs. Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed. Maintain livestock performance records. Maintain quality control and production records. Milk cows. Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs. Clean stables, barns, barnyards and pens. Maintain work records and logs. Detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock and poultry. Perform general farm duties. Examine product for quality and its readiness for the market. Write daily basic progress reports. Set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns, pens and chicken coops. Equipment and machinery experience: Feeding and watering system. Skidsteer. Hand tools.
