Responsibilities
Tasks
-
Conduct quality control on programs, procedures and control strategies
-
Determine product specifications
-
Establish new quality control programs and strategies
-
Evaluate chemical process technology and equipment
-
Conduct economic and technical feasibility studies
-
Conduct research into the development or improvement of chemical engineering processes, reactions and materials
-
Develop guidelines and specifications for the handling of dangerous chemicals, environmental protection, or standards for foods, materials and consumer goods
-
Oversee the construction, modification, operation and maintenance of pilot plants, processing units or processing plants
-
Design plant layouts and production facilities
-
Control process machinery using a distributed control system and process computers
-
Communicate technical problems, processes and solutions
-
Perform safety and security checks
-
Assist in the development of chemical engineering processes, studies of chemical engineering procurement, construction, inspection and maintenance

Hire, supervise and train or oversee training of employees in the use of new equipment or production techniques

Process data to conduct basic analyses of trends

Participate in the commercialization of new products

Consult with production supervisor to schedule production runs in a cost and time-efficient manner

Measure and lay out work pieces in preparation for assembly
