*Program Summary:*
NOVA provides young people between the ages of 16 ? 24, who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless with a safe, affordable, and supportive living environment. Operating primarily from a Harm Reduction philosophy, the program provides 20 beds as a low-barrier housing solution to those who are faced with multiple challenges. The Life Skills Coach creates and facilitates cultural, educational, and recreational opportunities for the youth residing at NOVA. In addition, the Life Skills Coach administers the SPDAT assessment to all youth residing in the STAY program.
*Responsibilities:*
_*Administration*_
* Maintain accurate and timely data collection, data entry and completion of any program assessments and surveys as directed
* Completion of accurate written daily documentation (log book entries, contact notes, incident reports, medication book entries)
* Completion of referral and intake documentation
* Maintain a monthly budget and documentation of spending
_*Client Support*_
* Deliver services in a client centered, strength based approach consistent with unit philosophy
* Adapt services to meet the needs of diverse populations as per unit policy
* Build collaborative relationships with youth
* Role model life skills, social skills, communication skills and conflict resolution
* Support youth to achieve goals as defined on their individual goal plans
* Encourage youth to engage in healthy lifestyle alternatives
* Transparently address current challenges with the youth
* Role model and assist the youth with self-advocacy
* Identify, design and implement relevant educational groups
* Transport youth in agency vehicle and supervise group outings
_*Health and Safety*_
* Deliver services in accordance with unit and agency policies and procedures
* Ensure youth are aware of and understand House rules and respond accordingly
* Maintain a safe, secure environment
* Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation
* Ensure maintenance and cleanliness of unit and property
_*Community Engagement*_
* Liaise with guardians, program partners and other professionals
* Maintain positive relationships with community members (neighbors, visitors etc.) and report significant challenges/incidents to supervisor immediately
* Supervise and mentor field placement students as directed
_*Agency Collaboration*_
* Contribute to a positive culture by assisting and supporting colleagues as needed and encourage and teach others about the unit?s operations
* Practice agency mission, vision, values and guiding principles
* Maintain positive, professional working relationships with colleagues
* Participate in unit staff meetings and in agency meetings and on agency committees as appropriate
_*Additional Responsibilities *_
* Participate in core agency and additional ongoing training opportunities as directed and approved
* Transport youth in personal vehicle as directed and approved
*Qualifications / Skills:*
* Diploma in a related human services field
