Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Noisy. Dusty. Work setting: Shop fabrication. Tasks: Measure and mark sheet metal according to template. Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal. Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces. Instruct apprentices. Cut materials using power tools or by hand. Fit and join sheet metal parts. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Specialization or experience: Custom sheet metal items. Decorative metal sheets. Dust and fume collection system. Eavestroughing and flashing. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Industrial plant piping. Pre-fabricated metal buildings. Sheeting and cladding. Stainless steel equipment. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation.
