? *Summary*
The Child and Youth Worker supports residents in group and foster home programs, ensuring that residents facing social, emotional, behavioural, physiological, or psychological challenges are supported and offered guidance. The position aids in the smooth day-to-day operations of the group and foster home program, supports a high quality of life for those individuals in residence, and ensures that each individual's person-centred needs are met within the program. The position calls for a dedicated professional experienced in programming, developmental disabilities, and conflict management.
*Roles and Responsibilities *
* Support of our residential program by implementing the Rise Youth & Adolescent Services? mission, vision and values and making a positive impact on youth.
* Participates in goal setting and program planning, such as Individualized Services Plans for supported persons. Documents and implements the plan.
* Help clients with their treatment and care plan. This includes nutritional (meal plans), behavioural (daily routine), and medical needs.
* Assists children and youth in developing life skills, social skills, behaviour management, and access to community resources. Teaches and assists individuals with activities such as hygiene, basic cooking, money management, shopping, and safety skills.
* Facilitate physical, recreation, educational, social, and vocational activities. Accompanies and/or transports residents to activities such as appointments, shopping, school, employment, or leisure activities.
* Provides individual care and guidance consistent with resident needs.
* Provides stabilization through predictable structures, clear expectations and positive behaviour support.
* Provides assistance and support to residents in the event of a crisis.
* Ensure that youth are assisted with the support of daily living, accessing the community, medication and medical issues when indicated, and frequently interact with people receiving support.
* Provides written and or/verbal reports regarding the youth?s daily activities and progress. Ensures that all required documentation is complete and accurate.
* Administer medication following established policies and procedures.
* Ensure a clean and safe environment is always maintained. This responsibility will directly impact the well-being of our residents with medical complexities.
*Desired Qualifications and Required Skills*
* Candidates must have a completed Degree or Diploma from an accredited college or university in the Human Services field (including, but not limited to, DSW, SSW, CYW, CYC, BSW, etc.). A combination of experience and education will be considered.
* Experience in client service, individualized service plans, activity planning, and life skills
* Experience working with youth who have special needs and behavioural difficulties, i.e. dual diagnosis, developmental disabilities, & mental health.
* Experience with challenging behavioural-type situations.
* High proficiency in de-escalation tactics and diversion skills.
* The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with youth and work in a team dynamic.
* Candidates must possess the practical social skills needed to be a positive role model for youth and interact with them. They must have a strong familiarity with programming and assessment skills.
* Verbal and written communication skills are essential, especially for documentation and reports

*Employment Conditions *
* The position has a base rate of $21.00-$25.00 per hour, based on experience.
* Full-time - Weekdays (40 hours). 3:00 p.m. to 11 p.m.
