Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Commercial. Institutional. Residential. Relocation costs covered by employer. Tasks: Install domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems. Repair domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems. Instruct apprentices. Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment. Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges. Estimate costs and materials. Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Backflow prevention Certification. Plumber Trade Certification. Working at heights training. First Aid Certificate. Natural Gas License. Plumber Red Seal Certificate. Gas Fitter Red Seal Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Security and safety: Basic security clearance. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Vehicle supplied by employer. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Handling heavy loads. Work under pressure. Own tools/equipment: Tools. Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Personal suitability: Accurate. Client focus. Efficient interpersonal skills.
